It sets the ligntness for the next layer which is the original filtered with Channel Mixer. The BW version on top has blending mode Lightness. There's also a couple of originals left for future steps and a spare. Fortunately the cast has not destroyed details below so weighted linear mixing can make some improvement. In the next image the filtering uses the fact that in your image the blue channel is quite good although not perfect. It's very clever idea because it even allows negative weights. GIMP has Color > Components > Mono Mixer for this. You can start by making a BW image which has plausibly right brightnesses. The cast is not only an extra transparent magenta layer, it has also affected the underlying image colors and brightnesses. Take everything off the counters too.No single click operation will do the trick. Take a step back and see what a difference that makes first. For cost, the very first thing I would do is paint the kitchen. Replace the light fixture in the center with maybe something like a modern drum that hangs down more. Maybe paint your island darker or lighter colour and cover the top with stainless steel. Another person suggested putting in glass in upper cabinets. What about painting the walls a ver light grey in the kitchen maybe in a tone similar to what you have but very soft. Im a big fan off white or off white cabinets but in your case what about something different. I would also paint all doors and trim that is in the house white or an off white. What you don't notice in one season - you learn in the next. Each night after dinner and before we dropped exhausted into our bed - we would sit somewhere in or around the building and go over what we accomplished that day and I can't tell you how often we changed or added to our plans as we went because we learned which way the breezes blew, where the sun beat the hardest, where the best views were, what we could use that corner for, etc. My husband and I have built and remodeled a number of homes WHILE living on the property during the progress. When you actually LIVE there - far more ideas will come your way. If you did NOTHING but repaint the exterior of the house - you could remedy the curb appeal. If you love the interior and the price is right - don't let the exterior stop you. The white trim around the garage would look much nicer to me if it were squared and not angled as nothing else on the house has those angles. This is really being picky - but for ME - the white door trim is HUGE - so it NEEDS to be the same color as the door and hopefully then it wouldn't be so noticeable. I am leaning towards the tans and browns myself from the way the rock work looks from here. I agree that two or even three shades of grey or tan & brown would do the house great favors. I usually love red doors but not on this house. Personally, I don't like the blue accent color OR the white around the door. If you did add the porch MAYBE you could dig it out and move it. I would wait to see what the tree in front looks like - it is possibly a great asset when blossomed out. If wrapping around is out of the question for some reason (like $$$$), it would STILL help to have a porch in the front of the house. This isn't a cheap idea but a wrap around porch would REALLY add to this house. Making alterations to your Milgard windows or patio doors can void the warranty. However, it may have a minor, often unnoticeable, reflective and slightly green tint. In contrast, a Low-E coating is a thin metallic coat that is applied to the glass and will not have color variations based on the thickness of the glass. As window tints add alloy materials to the glass, the depth of color will change with the thickness of the glass. It is important to understand that Low-E coatings are not the same and should not be used in conjunction with a window tint treatment because it might result in slight discoloration. Do you have tinted or Low E? They are not the same
